Thomas Stögmüller specializes in advising companies in the fields of IT and telecommunications law, copyright and software law, protection of intellectual and industrial property rights (patent, trademark and competition law), antitrust law and product liability. He also drafts, reviews and negotiates licensing agreements, project and outsourcing contracts, maintenance contracts, distribution agreements, general terms and conditions and license terms. Another focus is ensuring that marketing material and Internet websites comply with the law. Thomas Stögmüller also provides support in the fields of IT, IP and telecommunications and on antitrust law as applied to mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and due diligences. He is instructed by clients to represent them before court and in arbitration proceedings, in administrative proceedings before the Federal Cartel Office, the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Network Agency, and he also acts as an arbitrator. Thomas Stögmüller studied in Munich and at Berkeley. He did his doctorate under Professor Schricker on the subject of "German reunification and copyright" and went on to take a Master of Law (LL.M.) at the University of California in Berkeley. He worked as a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Patent, Copyright and Competition Law (US department) and then as a lawyer in the telecommunications department of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport and Technology, before, in 1997, joining the law firm Clifford Chance in Frankfurt as a lawyer. He has been working in Munich since 2004, and joined teclegal Habel on 1 January 2006. Thomas Stögmüller is the author of numerous legal articles and is a frequent speaker at specialist conferences - for example at the DGRI, ITechLaw, Software Offensive Bavaria and IIR Germany - as well as lecturing on courses for specialists in IT law. He is a member of the German Society for Law and Information Technology (DGRI), the International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw), the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR), the German Institute of Arbitration (DIS), the German Antitrust Law Association and the Airport Club for International Executives at Frankfurt Airport. Mother tongue: German. Excellent command of written and spoken English, also for negotiation purposes.
